Manny always had a passion for beautiful architecture and historic structures. He first got his taste in historic advocacy when fighting to save a historic school building from the wrecking ball and built a strong group of neighborhood supporters in the Historic Northeast to fight the building’s doomed fate. After nearly two years of a fight the building came down but Manny’s passion for the preservation of historic buildings, especially in the Historic Northeast, churned into action by joining the HKC board and the Kansas City Missouri School District’s Building Corporation Board to ensure that in future historic properties are focused towards redevelopment, rather than demolition. Manny currently works for Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II as a Community Affairs liaison.
